LYSN and Allianz Care Australia cut wait times for mental health care by connecting students to clinicians in days, not months.
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - 04 APRIL 2023 - Multi-award winning telehealth provider LYSN and Allianz Care Australia have teamed up, in a ground-breaking partnership that aims to revolutionise mental health care for overseas students studying in Australia. Through a new platform developed by LYSN, the partnership could significantly reduce wait times from months to days, improve patient outcomes, and increase accessibility to mental health care for Allianz Care Australia's Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) members. This move marks a significant step forward in making mental health treatment more accessible and affordable for students studying abroad.
Allianz Care Australia OSHC members will be connected to clinicians within days, at a time when almost two thirds of patients can wait more than 12 weeks to receive care, according to the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) Healthcare Index Survey conducted in June 2022. Last month the APS confirmed the situation is getting worse with 1 in 3 psychologists unable to see new clients, up from 1 in 5 in June 2022.
According to Tahnee Clark, LYSN CEO “LYSN is addressing an urgent need for overseas student mental health support in Australia and we are ideally placed with our approach to improving mental health outcomes through consistency and quality of care, access to sessions and progressing patients to completion.”
With advanced clinical and wellbeing assessments, such as Personal Wellbeing Index (PWI), Psychological Distress Scale (K10) and Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS21), LYSN’s platform provides patients with the option to provide clinicians with deeper insights into their mental state prior to their session, providing more informed care. Plus, with dynamic client and clinician matching features, patients are matched with the perfect therapist for their specific needs. The platform will also help measure pre and post treatment mental health, to track progress and improve patient care continuously. In between sessions clients will also benefit from access to online learning conducted by professional psychologists covering key topics such as relationships, loneliness and financial stress.
LYSN and Allianz Partners may work together in the future to expand globally, with LYSN potentially becoming a provider for Allianz's international lines of business, including its private medical insurance clients and members.
